Released in 1956 and 1958, respectively, these titles feature Macdonald's signature PI, Lew Archer. In "Barbarous", Archer is hired by a husband to find his missing beautiful blonde wife, while "Doomsters" has Lew chasing down the truth behind the suspicious death of a U.S. senator. In both cases, Archer discovers that, as always, things are never what they seem.
